What comes up, must come down
That's what the old books say.
But one day, my ball flew up
And then it flew away.
I searched, and searched, near and far
But I couldn't see it any place.
I looked and looked, high and low
But it had vanished without a trace.
Oh where, oh where could my old ball be?
I just can't seem to find it.
Maybe lie the birds of Summersby,
it's seeking warmer climate.
Or maybe it has found a place,
where men won't kick it around.
I must get a lawyer, build a case
Or they might just put me down.
At last! I have found my ball!
It was right here with this sinner.
But now I have to run back home,
Or I'll be late for dinner.

Her skin grey and wrinkled,
She'd met him through a friend of a friend,
and then sent back and forth a flurry of messages
Become close
Left each other love notes
A thousand and fifty tiny hearts in blue-grey text bubbles.
When Celine sees the doctor that week,
And he tells her she's dying,
That's when she know she doesn't say anything.
Not then.
But when the doctor is gone,
When the door is closed,
She picks up her phone and opens the messaging app.
She says:
"I have something important I need to tell you."
She waits.
He replies:
"I'm here."
With trembling fingers,
She taps at her phone,
Pressing a single key -
The elephant emoji.
